Poetry: Dear Friend

 

DEAR FRIEND

It seems like it’s been years

Since we last heard from each other

When it’s only been one hundred days

And twenty

Since the last time we talked

Since you gave me advice, and I listened

Since you showed me your work, and I opined

THEY NEVER UNDERSTOOD US

But we scarcely cared

Ours was a spiritual relationship-

God gave me you

The three years of our friendship

I’ll always look back on with fondness

Is this the end?

Are we taking a break?

I do not know

What I do know is this-

I will never stop caring about you

I’ll never stop praying for you

I hope you find what you seek

While you are still IRREPLACEABLE

I hope you come back
